The first commercial sugar production operations in Hawai’i were established in Kōloa in 1835 and rum production began around this time. In fitting with this tradition, Kōloa Rum was the first licensed distillery on the island of Kaua’i where sugarcane production is a way of life. Being deeply rooted in Hawaiian heritage, Kōloa promotes sustainable agricultural practices to provide support and diversity to the local agricultural industry, and preserve natural open spaces.

Piattelli Wines are some of the finest South America has to offer. For close to twenty years Piattelli has lead the way in developing bold, complex, and delicious wines in the Mendoza and Cafayate regions of Argentina. These regions were selected specifically to grow only the very best of grapes, organically and with the purest melt water off the Andes Mountains.

Head winemaker, Valeria Antolin, a 4th generation winemaker, has been at the helm of production for Piattelli Mendoza since 2003. Piattelli-with the help of Valeria-takes French winemaking technique and applies it to an ideal climate for grape growing in the valleys of Mendoza and Cafayate. This marrying of tradition and modernity leads to some beautiful, award-winning wines.

A Minnesota favorite, the Reserve Malbec, is a near perfect wine. With a deep burgundy hue, and a simple yet elegant bottle design, the Malbec has a smooth, long finish; filled with notes of blackberry, lavender, and a hint of smoke.

Another standout, and staple, from Piattelli is the Torrontes; a light and crisp white made with Torrontes grapes, uniquely suited to grow in the cool valleys of Argentina. Floral notes of orange blossom and tropical flavors of pineapple and peach make this a delicious pour, perfect for a lovely early-summer day in Minnesota.

While the wines themselves are the star of the show, the price-point is what makes Piattelli truly stand out from the competition. Piattelli Wines are rare in that they can be enjoyed by anyone, from the most experienced connoisseur to a relative novice.

Founded in 2005, Cedar Ridge became the first licensed distillery in Iowa since prohibition. Cedar Ridge was started by the Quint family, who have farmed and distilled spirits for generations. They believed it was time for the number one corn producing state, Iowa, to share its Bourbon Whiskey with the world. Releasing its first batch of Cedar Ridge whiskey in 2010, the distillery has quickly become a leader in craft spirits winning awards such as, American Distilling Institute’s “2017 Distiller of the Year” and “Best American Craft Whiskey” at the 2016 New York World Spirits Competition.

Cedar Ridge's Award Winning Iowa Bourbon Whiskey

Cedar Ridge is truly authentic by nature. Being grown, and stored on site at the Quint family farm in Winthrop, Iowa, Cedar Ridge’s process is affected by their location and weather. After being twice distilled, Cedar Ridge Whiskey is transferred to barrels that are stored in non-temperature controlled rick houses. This allows Iowa’s consistently inconsistent weather to aid in the expansion and contraction of the barrels, helping the whiskey to take on the rich aromas and flavors of the barrels more quickly than other regions.

Cedar Ridge Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Being that Iowa is home to the some of most fertile soil in the world, Cedar Ridge whiskey has access to the highest-quality corn on Earth. This helps make Cedar Ridge Bourbon one of the finest bourbons you can find. The fine craftsmanship of bourbon at Cedar Ridge is a reflection of Iowa’s mentality of doing the best with what nature gives them, while maintaining minimal waste.

The best bourbon comes from the best corn and grain, accessible to Cedar Ridge in the heart of America’s Grain Belt.

Bonny Doon | Blue Ox | Rich Wine Co.

Bonny Doon has been on the cutting edge of innovation in wines for over thirty years. From changing the stigma around screw caps, to embracing transparent labeling policies, Bonny Doon is a vineyard of firsts since the beginning. Randall Graham founded Bonny Doon in the hopes of bringing Burgundy, France to central California. The most important “first” for Bonny Doon, was the discovery that Rhone grapes were essential to bringing the flavors of France across the Atlantic. Over three decades, Bonny Doon expanded into a multi-label vineyard before settling back “Doon” in the early 2010s; selling off much of the company and returning to their roots to continue their quest in making delicious, affordable wine.

Bonny Doon believes that wine should convey a sense of place when drinking it, that it should take you to wherever the wine was made. This is quite different from most wines made in North America, where vineyards value consistent, standardized product over nuance and character. This leads to an old-fashioned approach to tending the grapes, allowing the vineyard to reach somewhat of an equilibrium on its own in terms of soil quality and grape maturity. This leads to deep & balanced flavor profiles, just as the French would have wanted.

Blue Ox Spirits out of neighboring Iowa bring the boldest of flavors to their spirits. This Hawkeye state distillery focuses on developing high character spirits, much like the folks who drink Blue Ox. From vodka, to whiskey, to rum or gin, Blue Ox spirits are gluten-free, on top of being bold and delicious. Blue Ox makes their vodka with 100% Iowa corn and distilled four times, leading to the smoothest of finishes. Their American Spirit whiskey is aged two years in oak barrels to give it character, just like the people who drink it. If you’re looking for a home-grown, Midwest-made spirit at affordable prices, Blue Ox is right up your alley.

It’s better to be rich, and spicy, and creamy, according to Rich Wine Co. Rich Wines are as rich as wine gets. Most chardonnays share similar qualities; not so with Rich Wine’s “Rich & Creamy”, which uses a malolactic fermentation process to introduce that distinct creaminess to this wine, with bright flavors of citrus and vanilla. Their “Rich & Spicy” is a cabernet sauvignon, aged for three months in bourbon barrels to give it big, bold, and of course spicy flavors of dark chocolate, blackberry, and vanilla bean; perfect for dinner on the grill. Live the Rich life with Rich Wine Company.

Lapis Luna wines were named and crafted with the effect the moon has on the North Coast California grapes in mind. Latin for Stone and Moon, Lapis Luna wines are all about connecting with something greater than ourselves. Beautifully designed works of art adorn the bottles, each telling a different piece of the Hero’s Journey. These labels fit perfectly with the beautifully flavored wines themselves. Lapis Luna’s award winning Zinfandel contains notes of spice and pepper, dark berry colors and a lovely acidity. Their Chardonnay is full-bodied with hints of orange zest and vanilla aromatics and a savory apple and buttery smooth finish. Lapis Luna wines were designed to be enjoyed any day of the week, whether the moon is a sliver or a stone.
